Ring stone engraved with Tyche-Fortuna.
White beige burnt carnelian. Height 1,3 cm.
The goddess, is standing left, a polos on head. She is wearing a peplos, part of which is falling over her left arm. She is holding a poppy flower and a corn ear in one hand and a cornucopia under her arm.
1st century B.C. - 1st centuryA.D. Roman Republic or Empire.
Intact. Very nice style.
Said “to have been found in the excavations of Pompeii" ; collection of Edward McK. Holly (d. Rome, 1909) ; bequeathed in 1912 by his widow to the United Charities of Chicago ; purchased from them in 1913 by H. J. Budd (?).
