Alexander the Great (king of Macedonia) - AR tetradrachm - uncertain mint in Asia Minor

Alexander III the Great (king of Macedonia) 336-323.
AR tetradrachm, uncertain mint in Asia Minor, late 4th - early 3rd century B.C.
Head of Alexander-Heracles right, wearing lion’s headdress.
ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated on throne left. He is holding an eagle and a sceptre. On the left, a club.
17,12 g. SNG Oxford ; Cf. Price 733 (Argos) but the style does not match. It is close to that of Eritrea in Ionia where the club is a usual symbol but always in conjunction with a monogram. Exceptional style. Nice cabinet patina on the obverse. Extremely fine
