The Gorgoneion is the face of the Gorgon, represented in an ugly way to magically protect the owner. Since the 7th century B.C., in Greece, the iconography is the same: lion’s scary snout and hanging tongue is supposed avoiding the Demons. This face is usually represented on the roof’s antefixes or on daily-life objects, mainly made of terracotta.
