Khonsu is one of big lunar gods of the egyptian pantheon. His name (Khenesou comes from the verb khenes expressing a movement) means “the one who crosses” reminding the movement of the moon in the sky. In the New Empire, he makes up the Theban triad with his parents Amon and Mout.
He is represented here, seated and put on by the lunar disk and croissant as well as of the uraeus. We meet him for his quack’s virtues when he looked after the sister-in-law of Ramses II, woman possessed by evil spirits.
